Playdate at the Museum & Weekend Freebies

Saturday while we were in Mankato we got together with our fabulous friend Lonni and her kiddos at the Blue Earth County Museum.  They have free admission the first Saturday of every month and that sounded good to us!

Here’s a few pics of the fun…

We didn’t get to visit long and it was a bit crazy keeping Alex (and sometimes Jack!) museum-worthy, but it was so much fun to see Lonni and her gang again.

One thing I have learned from Lonni is to take advantage of the weekend section of the paper and always look for free opportunities for families.  She told me it was free at the museum that day so that’s where we met up.  It was a cold and rainy Saturday and we found a way to get together, learn some new things and have fun without spending a dime.

Lonni has found all sorts of neat activities — from hot air balloon shows to birdhouse building workshops — just by checking the weekender section every week.  In these economic times especially, that’s pretty good thinking!

Now I have a little guy climbing me, half my family taking off for play practice and an injury to attend to.  I think ice cream is in order for at least some of us.  🙂
