Well, That Was a Surprise!

I’ve been working my way through the categories of the Homeschool Blog Awards over the past few days and just got to “Best Thrifty Homeschool Blog” to see Magic and Mayhem on there!

I had no idea (isn’t someone supposed to tell you or something??) and the voting is nearly over, but if you’d like to go vote for Magic and Mayhem I’d certainly appreciate it.  🙂

My little bitty blog is up against popular biggies so I don’t have much of a hope of winning anything, but it was an awfully nice surprise to see myself up there!

Thanks to whoever nominated me, too!

An Award!

Beckie at Spookyz Spot gave me an award!

Thanks so much!  Here are the rules…

*List 6 things that make you happy.
*Pass the award on to 5 other bloggers
*Link back to the person who gave you the award.
*Link to the people you are passing it on to and leave them a comment to let them know.

Okay… 6 things that make me happy ~

  1. Daryl, who calls himself my personal masseuse “whose job it is to follow you around and give you rubs all day” and who gets up with the baby and lets me sleep.  And gets me chocolate.  And does neat HS stuff with the kids.  And thinks he’s the lucky one.
  2. Bringing home a billion books from the library.
  3. The feel of Alex’s warm little hand on my side as he falls asleep nursing.
  4. Doing art with my kiddos.
  5. The promise of spring.
  6. The internet — wonderful online friends, a billion homeschool resources, games, diversions, blogging and a zillion other ways to my waste time.  🙂

I’m passing it on to ~

  1. Tiffany @ How to be an AP Parent…. for epitomizing full disclosure and because she’s fabulous and makes my life brighter.
  2.  Gerky @  The Homefront Lines… because I love her jokes and I love her projects and fun spirit.
  3. Risa @ Educating Risa… because her new blog is a wealth of neat HS ideas, book recommendations and other good stuff.
  4. Erica @ One Busy Mama… because she posts such a variety of interesting stuff, from homemade chocolate bar recipes to weekly HS reviews of lots of neat activities to how to make mama cloth pads, all with tons of pictures.  And I’m in awe of how any woman can raise 4 boys, watch 2 more, and do all that she does which such grace.
  5. And young Ninja Penguin @ Penguin Excitement… because I like his new blog and enjoyed his bug challenge and I’m looking forward to reading more!

A Butterfly Award!

I was the recipient of this neat award from Summer Fae!  Why thank you!!!

The rules of the award are…

1.Put the logo on your blog
2.Add a link to the person who awarded you
3.Nominate 10 blogs that you follow
4.Add links to those blogs
5.Leave a message to those nominees on their blog

So I’m passing the torch to….

Raising Explorers

Unplug Your Kids

How to be an AP Parent…

Such Lovely Freckles

Julie K in Taiwan

Art Projects for Kids

Okay, a quick bit of counting will no doubt reveal that I only listed 6.  I have soup on the stove and 6 is my favorite number today.  😉

One more thing.  Does it make me a geek that the grammar on the logo makes me a bit nuts?  Yeah, I thought so.  Ah well.

Sharing the Love

I was so honored to get this award from Mary at Everyday Baby Steps. I am new to her blog but I love to visit it. Thanks so much, Mary!

This award was created by Memoirs Of A Mommy to honor the donor who saved her son Noah’s life with a heart transplant. Her hopes are that in passing this award, we are creating more awareness of the importance of organ donation.

She says: The rules of this award are: SHARE THE LOVE!!! Share this award with all those blogs out there that you love. All the people who make you smile. All those that make you laugh. All those that make your day. All those that leave uplifting comments on your blog. **All I ask, is that you include a link to this post with the award and ask your recipient to do the same**

So now it’s my turn to share the love…

Amy at This Side of Somewhere, for being such a deep down wonderful person and loving mother.

Susan at Home School Mom. We have known each other online since our oldest kids were tots. We are radically different in the way we homeschool but quite alike in our love of our kids, homeschooling and making it all fun. She goes out of her way to help other moms and share her knowledge and she has quite a lot to share. If you are new to homeschooling and want information on curricula, planning and more, she’s your go-to girl.

Laura at Ramblings of an Unschooling Family, if you don’t want information on curricula or planning at all. 🙂 Laura manages to make being a mama to 9 kids look almost easy, and always fun.

Tiffany at How to be an AP Parent (…even when your kids drive you nuts!) for being so darn fun, so darn honest and a wonderful friend.

Claire at The Garden Grrl, a fabulous organic gardening blog. Claire is one part mythical creature, one part natural disaster, one part mama bear and one part fount of wisdom. She also wins the award for “most likely to offend absolutely anybody.” She is also now officially 100% cancer free, having beat THREE types of cancer this year. Woot! (The garden blog is unfortunately free of offense, disasters and such since it also runs in her local paper but it is nonetheless dead-on for the “fount of wisdom” part in terms of organic gardening.)

Barb at Perfectly Natural Photography. I love to peek at her photographs and she is such a wonderful mama with such a good soul.
